An explanation of the 7 major coverage parts of the basic "Auto Policy" are:
Protects you against the bodily injury liability claim that a guest passenger in your auto, an occupant of another vehicle, or a pedestrian would make against you for their injuries that were found to be the result of your negligence (legal responsibility) in an Auto accident.
Protects you against the property damage liability claim that a person or entity would make against you for the property damage that they incurred as a result of your negligence (legal responsibility) in an Auto accident.
A state mandated coverage that typically pays 80% of your auto related Medical expenses as the primary coverage. It also provides for 60% of your auto accident related Lost Wages. It also pays 100% of your Economic loss. This might include your inability to perform household chores, lawn care needs, etc. when medical instructions have restricted you from performing these usual and customary tasks.

Medical Payments Coverage
This coverage is without doubt the "Most Misunderstood Coverage" in a person's auto policy. In Florida, this important coverage is designed to pay YOU when you suffer a permanent injury as the result of another auto driver's negligence (legal responsibility). Imagine, you are that driver who suffered the serious back injury and one year's lost wages. Would you want to collect for the value of your bodily injury claim from the "At Fault" driver of the other car?" Of course you would! Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist coverage allows YOU to present your bodily injury claim against YOUR OWN INSURANCE COMPANY when the negligent (At Fault & Legally Responsible) party had "NO" Bodily Injury coverage OR had limits that were "INSUFFICIENT" to properly satisfy what your bodily injury claim was worth.
Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist Coverage
This coverage is referred to as "Physical Damage Coverage." This coverage pays for the damage caused to YOUR Automobile that is caused by collision or upset. Whether you collide with another auto or strike a fixed object, like a pole or guard rail, Collision coverage pays to repair or replace your vehicle subject to the "Deductible" amount which you pay as your "share" of the loss. When you are "At Fault" (legal responsibility) for the damage to your auto, you would need Collision coverage to repair or replace your damaged vehicle. If you are "Not At Fault," in an accident, but the other auto driver has NO Insurance, you would need Collision coverage to repair or replace your vehicle.
Collision Coverage
This coverage is also referred to as "Physical Damage Coverage." However, it pays for the damage caused to your Automobile that is caused by a loss "Other Than Collision or Upset." Some examples would include a fire loss, vandalism, a tree falling upon your auto or a stone striking the front windshield.
